Dynamipills Music Is 2

2nd anniversary

Dynamipills was created on the 7th of June 2019. I was on a roll that day, I created an email address and Instagram, I had set every thing

I didn’t even have a logo at the time. I was just following the voice I had been hearing

I was so excited that day,my first ever thing that was MINE. Then immediately I was done, a notification popped on my phone.

RESULTS ARE OUT!!!!

I don’t know if it’s just me, but whether I did well I don’t like checking my results, especially immediately.

But somehow, I checked it, and I had failed a core course. Let me tell you, the tears that fell that day

I felt like deleting everything, I come from an African home, so I already knew that I wouldn’t be forgiven easily.

What did I not hear?

I didn’t know that God was sending me what would make me stronger just before trials overwhelm me

Slowly, the picture became clearer, I met people who supported the dream, I learnt lessons. I realised that when I am passionate about something, I give it my best

Through the ups and downs. dynamipills were and are not just for me. You Are a big part of what dynamipills.

So as Dynamipills is 2years, expect more from us

There are so many things in store for you, something sweet is coming. Don’t worry

Being Consistent in your playing

Hello guys, long time, no post! What a lovely title, one would say”very fitting for this occasion, since you have not written anything in 2 months”. I got busy with work and honestly writers block is a lot deeper than i thought.I want to take out some time to talk about how consistency is a major pillar of life…well your sax playing at least.

Not gonna lie being consistent is not easy.i started my internship in Department of Biochemistry, so far so good but its been really time-consuming. running tests in the laboratory and creating saxophone content was a lot to juggle. Setting out time for the saxophone especially when you have a job or school, so my number one advice to you is to Plan your time wisely and EXECUTE. Planning only writes the dream, doing it brings it to life

Do not compare yourself to others, it is a waste of time, trust me. that person does not define your or what you should be. Honestly if someone makes me feel bad about myself through social media, i detach myself. My mental health is not worth likes and comments.

Sometimes limiting your boundaries can make you narrow minded to the many things that you can accomplish. there are are so many ways that our brain tricks us into the comfort zone and we are hooked on it like a drug. so i will give the best wing-lady advice, Get out of the comfort zone !

The last things that i will tell you, do not let your work be to cumbersome. and the frequency surpasses the size.practice one piece one step at a time

Learning a NEW HABIT is like Going to the gym

I started working out, actually to have a healthy lifestyle but its being a very funny story; I tell you.

Maybe I should Talk about it… I realised that Having a sax routine is more like going to the gym. Lifting weights, strength training and endurance, fitness and a good diet.

They say it takes 21 days to form a habit, I do not believe so. I believe that Repetiton and willingness to change fuels our mind from a conscious change to an unconscious habit.

Maybe if we focus on why we want to do something rather than how hard it is.

I know learning something new is not easy, or trying to break a bad habit is a lot. Our fingerprints are rooted with imperfection but filled with blood of change.

I’m not gonna say I find learning something new easy, Quite the opposite.

I say the willingness to be the best version of myself for myself and those I love drive me.

So I implore you, Be the best version of you

Music is a FORM of EXPRESSION.

Gbots

1.Tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Oluwapelumi Gbotolorun, popularly known as Gbots, I started learning how to play the saxophone when I was 12 that was in JSS2. I got serious about playing in SS1, at age 14. I got into music school in my area and that exposed me to better learning and people.

2. What Got you into Music ?

Well I was learning the keyboard when I was in Primary 3. At that time in my life, I didnt even like the saxophone. when they gave me the saxophone to learn, I was crying.

3.Who was/were a big inspiration to you when you first started out your saxophone journey ?

I would say Mr Tolu, that was the person who opened my eyes to a lot of things in music. Aunty Yemi, she built my tone. These people really helped me and influenced my sound.

4.How do you feel before, during and after a performance?

Before a show, I am quite tensed especially if theres a crowd but that “one na smalls”. During, I feel happy and confident, when performing I feel really confident. After a performance, I feel good and achieved.

5. if you could open a show for an artist, who would it be ?

I really love ASA

6. Who is/ are your favourite saxophonist?

I don’t have a role model for now, I plan on listening to more saxophonists to groom my sound

7. What is your most memorable moments of 2020?

Quarantine, I learnt a lot, i started learning new things

8. What is music to you?

Music is a form of expression for me

9. Any plans for 2021?

I want to try things differently and different approach to things

ANYTHING But MUSIC

Look, I grew up knowing 4 different occupations

Doctor, Lawyer,Engineer and Accountant

And then there was my love for music that erupted out of Nowhere. Now I am caught between a Biochemistry Degree and a Saxophone.

On a lighter note, hey squad. your girl been off the social media for a while..like ife where have you been. well I’ll tell you.

I have been busy with IT and also trying to give Dynamipills music a better view of things. I want to work on the graphics of the page and make it less boring more colourful even.

Anyways, a lot of people think that studying music is a waste of time and just a sad way to spend money. Not only do I disagree with that pathetic thought. I embrace music education.

I realised that Music theory and Music education teaches you the WHY of things.

If someone has passion for music it’s more of a struggle to keep that Dream alive because people shun your dream all in the name of “protecting you”

I would say to someone who is struggling to follow their passion. I would say dont stop believing and let the people who dont believe in your dream get to you. Sadly I also mean those who you care about the most.

Life is too short living a life that you arnet happy and you matter. I dont want to sound too crappy but you get the gist

I do not really enjoy my course of study which is Biochemistry and yes I wish I studied music as my first degree, but I can say that it fuelled my passion to beat the odds and pursue music.

How much do you want it and how much do you want to work for it. words cant compensate for action no matter how uplifting and motivational they are

I started a series on my YouTube channel about ‘Can I ever LEARN music Theory” and I think it’s a great way to start.

There are a lot of helpful and inexpensive…free even resources that talk about music education and broading one’s knowledge.

coming from me, I believe that is a great start for someone not studying music in school

you can get a music tutor or a website lesson or YouTube

you can sign up for a class

Always remember that the people around you dont define you. your actions and your reactions really set you apart.

Diary of a BEGINNER SAXOPHONIST ….CHAPTER 1

I remember it was in JSS2 and the music teacher at the time made it compulsory for everyone to learn an instrument, it was to be part of our academic grade.
I was a very anti social ( if that what you call it) person. I had the anxiety, didnt have a lot of friends and I was trying to figure out myself

A lot of people went to play the keyboard…so that was a no go area for me
Then other went to the recorder and I was NAHHH, not for me
I was playing the violin at the time because that was the instrument I was learning in Primary school. Then it got to a place that I was Bored with the strings and with the strings bored.
And then I found out that only 3 people chose to play the saxophone JACKPOT

So we all took turns and it was really cool
there were school saxophones so I practiced….actually I just played Mary had a little lamb so many times that Mary killed the lamb ( dont leave me )

Never would I know that my desire and love for music would be the start of a wonderful music adventure

You missed me 😜

If that title makes you feel like I’m Self absorbed. the you are 100% ………

The real Title is I missed you but I didn’t want you to see me as too desperate 😌

Merry Christmas..even tho it’s two days later but hey better late than Never.

You know what happens when you are at the last days of the year..REFLECTION

You think about your life and all that you have or havent done and you see how you can be a better person…I hope.

These last days I’m spending time with my loved ones and reflecting on how to be a better person, a better blogger or content Creator and sorting my goals. searching my soul and finding my inner self. Talking and Writing to God has been really helpful.

Don’t worry my goal is to be a more fluent writer…less types

I was taught the art of Reflection since I was in secondary school ( I went to a Catholic school ok…)

We would do it every term , like at the end of the term, A priest would come and for 3 days we would Retreat. no one was allowed to speak just reflect. Now that I’m older I actually appreciate that I still do that.

so Reflect and ponder on what you want to do for the next year. I have so many goals and plans for 2021 but it starts with me reflects and actually knowing what I want.

All in all I think the key thing to learn is that

YOU ALL MISSED ME …and I missed you too 😘

I think just by looking at them, I’ve seen Temitayo Kayode use the sax strap and ligature. So yeah get your friend a good sax strap. At the end of the day. dont get your sax friend a crappy gift. Dont do it

Taking it one note at a time.

One of my favourite catchphrases is taking my music one step at a time. I noticed how many people I help talking about my sax journey and honestly I’m really excited

Let me start by saying, I at home but waiting exams right now so practising is just really different.

I tried transcribing a song and wow was it hard. then I tried playing the sax cover of Omah lay and Olamide song “Infinity”.

makeup lights my self esteem was high. feeling good about myself. And then so happy and just excited to edit and there

I sound like crap

😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I was so down and that’s when the voices of anxiety just got to me…but they failed. Not because of where I am right now, but because I know that it can only get better

you hear me : THIS CAN ONLY GET BETTER

Talking to loved ones is so important, and also be your biggest hype man

so instead of sulking and Just giving up like I usually do I set myself up

Stop comparing yourself to other people. I know we see other people and are like I want this why dont I have that.

One verse in the Bible I learnt to love is there is time for everything.

Practice practice PRACTICE

Take your music one step at a time

one song one scale one sax one you

There are things that I just straight up rushed and I dont remember but the things I took my time and learnt, stick with me till this day.

I planned my sax routine today and I really enjoyed myself.

I highly recommend taking videos of yourself practicing because sometimes I fail to forget how far I’ve come and embrace my journey
